WHAT CAN YOU APPLY FOR?

Here you can apply for funds for:

  • Partnership projects, which are expected to produce both scientific and industry benefits.
  •  Partnership activities, smaller projects funded by partnership fees. These activities only require industry benefits.

PARTNERSHIP PROJECTS

Our co-financed research projects aim at developing knowledge relevant to both the university and the industry. A partnership project should be particularly useful to Movium's partners and to SLU's landscape researchers.

Movium Partnerskap pays up to 50 % of granted co-funded research projects; one or more partners finance the remaining. A partnership project must include at least one of Movium's partners and at least one SLU researcher at the LTV faculty. Let us know if you want help finding suitable partners for your project idea. See a list of Movium's current partners here

The organizations must be partners at project start. It is not a requirement that an organization is a partner at the time of application, though the project funding, as well as the partnership idea and fee, must be firmly established and secured within the organization.

A researcher attached to the LTV Faculty at SLU, together with one or several partners, makes the application on Movium’s web site. The application must be approved by the Head of Department and attach to one of the department’s focus areas. The application must also be checked with the coordinator of Movium Partnerskap.

Besides university and industry benefits, a partnership project must result in popular scientific dissemination, for example through Movium's communication channels. How this is best achieved should be discussed with the coordinator of Movium Partnerskap, preferably before the application is submitted and then again at the end of the project.

Additional requirements and criteria on which the application is evaluated are:

  • The project should be of significant benefit to the industry.
  • The partner should be able to continue to apply the knowledge even after the project has been completed.
  •  Projects where more than 50 % of funding comes from partners are prioritized.
  •  Cash contributions from partners are prioritized over in kind-funding.
  •  The project should fit with at least one of Movium's strategic themes. Read more about Movium’s strategic themes and evaluation criteria at the bottom of this page.

Funding - PROJECT

Up to 50 % of the project may be funded by Movium Partnerskap. This funding will finance the involvement of the LTV researchers in the project. One or several partners in Movium Partnerskap should fund the remaining, which is at least 50 % of the project.

80 % of the first year’s funds granted are paid out after the contract has been signed, then 80 % of each year’s budget will be paid out the first quarter of each year, for as long as the project has been granted funding. The remaining 20 % of the funds granted are paid out after the final report. NOTE that the final 20 % will not be paid if the final report is delayed for more than six months (unless approved by the coordinator of Movium Partnerskap).

Requirements for results - PROJECT

In addition to industry benefits and popular scientific dissemination, at least one of the following (not ranked) items should be the result of a co-financed research project:

  •  Scientific publication
  •  Research application to Formas, Vinnova or another major financier - another application to Movium Partnerskap doesn’t count
  •  Preliminary study that generates a research application
  •  Preliminary study that generates new research ideas
  •  Part of the layout for a municipal or industrial graduate student

PARTNERSHIP ACTIVITIES

Our activities aim to contribute knowledge of great value for as many of our partners as possible. A researcher employed at SLU’s LTV faculty and / or one or more of Movium’s partners apply on Movium’s web site.

Use the same application form as for partnership projects to apply for a partnership activity, but you don’t have to answer all of the questions (see instructions in the template and the list in APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS below).

Requirements and criteria for partnership activities are:

  •  The activity should be of significant benefit to the industry.
  •  The activity must provide added value to Movium's partners, and the activity, or its output, should be available also to partners not involved in the application.
  •  The application may not exceed 50 000 kr.
  •  Co-financing is not necessary, but applications with co-financing from partners are prioritized.

Requirements for results - ACTIVITY

In addition to industry benefits and added value to Movium’s partners, at least one of the following (not ranked) items should be the result of an activity:

  •  Popular scientific publications
  •  Seminar
  •  Conference
  •  Workshop
  •  Knowledge syntheses
  •  Information gathering
  •  Scientific article
  •  Preliminary study that generates a research application
  •  Preliminary study that generates new research ideas

APPLICATION DATES

Movium Partnerskap has two deadlines per year. The deadline for applications in the spring is 15th March (granted projects expected to start in April-December the same year). The deadline for applications in the autumn is 15th October (granted projects expected to start in January-September the following year).

The application system is open for submissions the entire day of the deadline, until midnight.

If the deadline date coincides with a weekend or a public holiday, it will be moved to include the first workday after.

Your application will be assessed and you will be notified no later than four weeks after the respective closing date.

ASSESSMENT

All applications are assessed by a panel consisting of:

  •  the Dean of the LTV Faculty,
  •  the Director of Movium,
  •  representatives from each of the four strategic themes.

The Director of Movium and the Dean of the LTV Faculty will then decide on all project applications.

Statistics show that, in a typical year, half of the applications are successful.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

This is a guide to show how the panel prioritize among applications. Decisions are based on an aggregated assessment.

  •  A well-formulated, relevant and current question.
  •  A well-formulated and well thought out application.
  •  A well-formulated and well-planned implementation plan.
  •  A well-organized project group that together is expected to have good opportunities to achieve results.
  •  How well the project / activity develops and / or enriches the industry.
  •  How well the project / activity develops and / or enriches SLU.
  •  How well the project / activity develops and / or enriches Movium.
  •  How well the project / activity develops and / or enriches the institutions at the LTV faculty.
  •  How well the project / activity contributes to the development of skills for both the university and the industry.
  •  How well the project / activity is judged to be able to answer at least one, but preferably more, of the result requirements.
  •  How well the project / activity is judged to fit with at least one of Movium's strategic themes.
  •  To what extent the overall benefit of the project is deemed significant and not only beneficial for this particular occasion.
  •  It is considered an advantage if the project group has cooperating participants from several departments within the LTV faculty.
  •  It is considered an advantage if the project / activity makes applications to other financiers as well.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Please pay attention to the following:

  •  Your application should be short and concise.
  •  Describe how this research project / this activity can contribute to new knowledge.
  •  Describe the research question as clearly as possible (applies to project applications).
  •  Describe the research method as clearly as possible (applies to project applications).
  •  Any attachments should add new information to the application.
  •  The more closely the application matches one or more of Movium's strategic themes and the more requirements and criteria that the application meets, the more likely the application will be approved.
